Matt Christensen, CPA, Chairman of the board, is the Corporate Controller for Precision Walls, Inc, the largest provider of interior and exterior walls and ceilings in the southeast. Matt is responsible for managing the company’s financial operations including accounting, financial reporting, risk management, process improvement and IT. Matt brings over 17 years of financial management expertise to Diabetes Management Solutions. While his core competencies are accounting and finance, he also has experience in sales, operations, purchasing and market research. Matt moved to North Carolina in 1988 to do community healthcare outreach with migrant farm workers and now lives in Raleigh his wife, three children and three step children. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Creighton University and Master’s Degree in Accounting from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Bruce Foraker, Vice Chairman, is currently a Program Innovation Manager for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. He has over ten years of experience developing health education programs and is currently responsible for the design, development and implementation of educational programs for people with chronic illnesses including diabetes. Prior to joining BCBSNC, Bruce worked for a large multi hospital provider organization where he was responsible for negotiating contracts with health insurers for a five hospital system and for over 300 physicians. He received his undergraduate degrees in Management and Economics from Mount Union College, a small liberal arts college located in Alliance, Ohio. He received his Masters of Business Administration and his Master of Health Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Bruce lives in Durham, with his wife and their four children.
Jennifer B. Markham, Attorney at Law, Secretary, is currently an Associate at Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, L.L.P., a full service law firm in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her practice area includes advising health care providers with respect to corporate and regulatory issues. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in political science, and her law degree from the University Of Richmond School Of Law. Jenny lives in Raleigh with her husband and twin boys.
Ann Buddenhagen, DMS Treasurer is a Certified Public Accountant who has worked in public accounting in Raleigh since 1978. She is currently with the firm of Koonce, Wooten & Haywood, LLP. Her areas of specialty include auditing and taxation of not-for-profit entities and individual taxation. She received undergraduate degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill in journalism, NC State University in accounting. When these two traditional rivals play each other, she routes for whichever wins! Ann, who has Type 2 diabetes, has experienced the need for the dissemination of quality diabetes education and support to those who do not have these tools readily available to them.
Christopher Quinn, Past Chairman, is Founder and President of Imprint Learning Solutions and a member of the Duke Corporate Education Global Learning Resource Network. Chris founded Imprint Learning Solutions in order to establish an organization focused on partnering with clients to address complex issues with practical, tailored and sustainable solutions. He has extensive global experience in both business to business and business to consumer markets spanning more than 48 countries worldwide. Chris has more than 16 years of progressive responsibility and achievement in General Management, Global Marketing, Sales and Service and extensive Profit & Loss experience with responsibilities that included Research & Development, Operations, Business Development and Finance. He served as the head of a $200 million division of a public company as President and Corporate Vice President at age 38. He was promoted as the Senior Marketing Executive in a multi-billion-dollar global business and General Manager for country organizations in Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa achieving this position at age of 34- the youngest ever for this European corporation. Chris’ corporate work experience included American Hospital Supply Corporation, Baxter Healthcare, Idexx Laboratories, Inc. and Bayer. He served as a Marine Infantry Officer completing two deployments to the Middle East and one tour as Aide de Camp to the Deputy Commanding General - Fleet Marine Force Pacific. Chris serves on the board of trustees at the Duke School in Durham where he lives with his wife Ana and two boy’s- Kevin and Liam.
Lindsey Fox, board member, is a Diabetes Sales Specialist II with Bayer Diabetes Care where she has worked for 2 years. Lindsey became acquainted with the work of The Diabetes Bus Initiative through her job responsibilities with Bayer and jumped at the opportunity to be on the Executive Board as Secretary. Before her time with DMS, Lindsey worked with the American Cancer Society. Lindsey volunteered with Relay for Life Garner for three years, on the fundraising committee and as a team leader. During this time she also joined the Strike for Survival team. Lindsey volunteers with her church, Hope Community Church, as a high school bible study leader and mentor as well as helping in various areas of her community. Lindsey received her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University, College of Textiles. Her ambition is to return to school to obtain a Masters in Nutrition and move on to become a Dietitian focusing on diabetes education.
Peter Uliciansky, board member, is a Regional Manager for the Prestige Wine Group, a national importer of wine and spirits. He is a marketer with over ten years of experience in consumer goods, telecommunications, and office enterprise solutions. He is an entrepreneur who founded a swimming pool maintenance and repair business in high school. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and International Business from Appalachian State University. A resident of Raleigh for over ten years, he has been active in several local clubs and church ministries.
Amy Whited, board member, is the Director of Health Policy for the North Carolina Medical Society. Amy began her career in Government Affairs as a community liaison for U.S. Congressman Robert Aderholt, representing Alabama’s 4th Congressional District. In 2006, Amy moved on to direct the efforts of various political campaigns on the national, state and local levels which eventually moved her to Houston, Texas. While in Houston, Amy served as campaign manager and later Chief of Staff to a City Council Member and specialized in the evaluation and implementation of municipal policy. Amy joined the North Carolina Medical Society in August of 2009 as the Director of Health Policy and concentrates her efforts on state legislative affairs, national health system reform, NC Medical Board relations as well as staffing the NCMS Mental Health, Access and Health Services, and Ethical and Judicial Affairs Committees. Amy holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama and a Masters Degree in Public Administration with a focus on Non-Profit Management and Leadership from Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama.
April Reese, board member, is the Interim Director for the N.C. Diabetes Prevention and Control Program, and the Chair of the National Association of Chronic Disease Director’s Diabetes Council. In addition to these roles, she directs the evaluation for the state’s chronic disease program integration negotiated agreement. Mrs. Reese is a graduate of the UNC-CH Management Academy for Public Health and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Leadership Program. Previously she worked as the Communication and Education Director for the North Carolina Council for Women and Domestic Violence Commission and in various capacities for the Wake County Public School System. She has a Masters of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She is a member of the first group of professionals to achieve Public Health certification. She is married to Phil Reese, II. They have two sons and a dog.
